Step by step
Make your plan before you vote
- 01
Review the seven accepted documents
They include a Texas driver's license, Election Identification Certificate, Texas personal identification card, Texas handgun license, military identification with a photo, citizenship certificate with a photo, and U.S. passport.
- 02
Check expiration rules
For voters ages 18 to 69, identification generally may be expired by up to four years; broader rules apply at age 70 and older if the document would otherwise be acceptable.
- 03
Know the alternatives
A person who does not possess and cannot reasonably obtain acceptable identification may present a supporting document and complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration.
